10 Questions - Interim Spotlight – Jerry Gadhia
After a glittering career with some of the most well-known food manufacturers in the UK, Jerry began as an Interim Manager 18 months ago. To say that he has “taken” to this new career is a bit of an understatement as he has already a number of successful assignments under his belt (including two for us). July will see him literally reach new heights as he sets off on an expedition to the foothills of the Himalayas where he will climb up to 16000ft in the vicinity of Everest base camp. We wish him an enjoyable break.
1. How long have you been an Interim
18 months
2. What was your career before you became an Interim
Operations/Site Director with Buckingham Foods and latterly Greencore, Manton Wood.
3. What is your current / most recent assignment?
Interim Operations Director with Hutchinson Consultancy Ltd in a Surrey based Seafood Company
4. What has been your best assignment so far?
All of them! Although the current one has been the most satisfactory
5. If you could choose, what would be your alternative career outside of food?Professional Cricket Coach
6. What’s the best part of being an Interim?
The variety of assignments. The flexibility, the independence and learning about different businesses. The years of experience that you can bring to different companies.
7. And the worst?
Easy – living away from home.
8. Most memorable assignment?
Probably the one I did recently with Del Monte
9. GM Foods – Mountain or Molehill
Mountain – we need to be careful what we are doing.
10. What would you most like to change in the Food Industry?
The last two assignments have given me a further appreciation that quality food can be mass-produced. There needs to be an increase in quality, healthy, nutricious products and a reduction in processed foods of dubious quality.
